April 3, 2008 Janis K. Wheeler Background
My background is quite varied within the corporate arena. I was
a secretary and admin asst. for ten years ending in a position
as an Executive Assistant to the Director of Insurance in what
was then Seafirst Bank in Seattle. From that position I leaped
into my own business as a Housekeeper for clients in the
Seattle-Issaquah area such as the then President of Nordstrom’s
and the President of Starbucks. I expanded my business becoming
a personal and business assistant and Home Manager for some of
my customers. After 11 years I began to feel lonely and wanted
to make a greater social contribution in my work. I decided to
accept an opportunity to become an Editor for a start-up
educational Dot Com company. I was the fifth person hired for
the start up. Talk about learning to expand my horizons, skills
and emotional maturity! I didn't become the dot com millionaire
I was hoping for, but it was an amazing experience. When the dot
com company fell in the dot com industry crash, I decided to
move north to live near my Mom in Marysville.
At first I did temporary secretarial work while I studied to
become a Life Coach. I had learned so much about business
startup, expansion, marketing and communication; I began to
dabble in Virtual Assistance and Business Consulting. Virtual
Assistance is remote business and office assistance done via
computers, email, phones, and the internet. Along with a variety
of office projects such as writing ad copy, press releases and
more, I began to serve other business owners by helping them to
become more focused, and organized, helped them to cut costs,
learn leadership skills, and assisted them with project
management. In an effort to attract more clients, I visited a
professional networking group called LeTip and soon after found
a new love, Aviation. What was then Northwest School of Aviation
was a wonderful place for me, an entrepreneur, to be challenged
and to grow. It is my pleasure to see our customers do the same.
NWAC is a place where everyone is happy to be. I began as Dave’s
business assistant. Dave and I have been working together for
over two years, and much to our delight we are now co-owners of
NWAC.
The industries I have worked in are listed below:

Several Hospitals Secretary, Billing
